Memorial Day, Pensacola

>> Sunday, May 29, 2011

What better way to spend Memorial Day Weekend, then at  Ken and Becka's house in Pensacola.

Dinner and shopping in Destin (Scored big at the Ann Taylor Factory Store) at the Silver Sand Outlet Mall.

Window #1

>> Saturday, May 21, 2011

This is my view out the kitchen window looking into the sculpture garden.
Erik made this sculpture at 17 y.o. when he returned from basic training at Fort Benning, GA.
It is his rendition of a grasshopper getting ready to jump. The trees hide the antenna and marble slitted eyes.
What attracted me to take this picture was the morning low light and the view I could see with the window open about 5 inches.

Summer, here we come

>> Friday, May 13, 2011

With winter behind us, I am excited for summer.

We drove up to Sister Bay this afternoon to welcome summer tradition and meet Mike & Sue at JJs LaPuerta. Good company and good food.

I seriously love the sweet potato fries. How Cammie waitressed there for 5-6 summers and stayed so slim, is beyond my comprehension.

Heading back down the Peninsula toward home, Don and I stopped in at Eagle Harbor to confirm our reservations. Our kids will be meeting us there for Father's Day weekend.

What a weekend it will be, because it is also Fyr Ball Festival weekend. Remember my posts from last year? Good Eating and Gnorman the Gnome?.

Why I love summer

Remember my post about the memories that is conjured up by smell?

The smell of a bonfire reminds me of graduation parties, the start of summer vacation, opening up the cottage, fudge striped cookies and roasted marshmallows (smores)

Mother's Day, Green Bay Style

>> Sunday, May 8, 2011

A wonderful lunch at Brett Favre Steakhouse.

Cammie couldn't resist playing with the crab claw.

Justin: Let's take our picture at Lambeau.
Erik: We don't need Lambeau.
Justin: Bite your tongue

(Look at the goons behind me and Cammie!)

In the PACKER pro shop. They liked the truck, can you tell?

Ketucky Derby 2011

>> Saturday, May 7, 2011

Watched the Derby on the television.

Our parents, Don and Chris, were there.
They texted us and told us it was incredible. JEALOUS!

>> Sunday, May 1, 2011

This painting of a tree is for nurses day celebration, Tuesday, May 3.
There will be stamp pads on the table for the nurses to put their leaf (thumbprint) on the tree and sign their name.
