Meanwhile, Don.......

>> Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Meanwhile, Don ventured out with Ken (brother-in-law) to do some fishing. Monday morning saw them heading out to Northern Minnesota in the Pathfinder and lots of mosquito spray.

This is a 20" Large mouth bass. They said they ate it for breakfast.
Sounds like they are having fun.
He will be home on Friday.

After the Wedding

On Sunday after the wedding, the family (Dad, Chris, Steve, Erin, Jacob, Megan, Cammie, Justin) all headed up to Door County for a couple of days.

The first evening they went to JJ's La Puerta for supper. Cammie worked there five summers as a waitress and still cannot get enough of Mexican food. She was excited to show Steve and Erin.

On Monday I drove up and spent the afternoon with them at Hands on Art and worked on a few projects with them. Don spent several summers living and working up there with families in the welding studio while Cammie and Erik worked at the local restaurants. The silo project mentions Don, his painting and work at Hands On.

I left them that evening and headed home. They headed to The Shoreline Restaurant for supper. Erik bussed dishes for two summers at The Shoreline.

Alot of Sallenbach memories are in Door County.

The Wedding Day-that morning

While Mom and Sharon put together the last of the programs (doubled as fans to combat the heat and humidity), I met Cammie and the girls at the salon for "hairdos". They had all stayed in a room at the hotel that night, I wonder how much sleep they got? But when they arrived the six bridesmaids and Cammie were laughing and having so much fun. If they stayed up late, it didn't show.

After the updo, I had to head home and make Jacob's cap for the wedding. Jacob would be walking down the aisle with the rings tied inside the cap. An important assignment, so the hat better fit.

Motherhood prepares you for days like this; all the multitasking. Sewing, making pizza for bridesmaids, giving input to Becky who was making the list of things not to be forgotten in the transport to the wedding.

The only hitch....I arrived at the church to decorate and change into my dress when I realized I left Cammie's dress at home. Whoops! That seemed too obvious to be on the list.

The Wedding Weekend-Rehersal

The night before Cammie's wedding, the wedding party sat out in the garage and made 26 wedding cake floral tops. Cammie, funny girl, announced after they had finished, "we're not really going to use these, it was just a team building exercise!" jk

One of the cake tops had fern "antlers" (I made sure it was on the bridal reception table). What surprised me is that the boys did as good as a job as the girls. I didn't care what the final product was, it was unbelievable fun and stuff memories are made of.
